Alice in Wonderland Styled Photo Shoot
I was delighted when Gemma from Little Star Events asked me to take photographs at the Alice in Wonderland styled shoot at Radisson Blu Edwardian hotel in Guildford.
As an exhibitor at the themed the wedding show that Gemma from Little Star Events is organising at the Radisson Blu Edwardian Guildford on 6th September, a Wedding In Wonderland. Gemma was keen to show why she had chosen that theme for the show. By pulling out some of the quirky designs within the hotel, which was actually designed with Lewis Carroll in mind, Gemma thought it would be an ideal way to celebrate the 150th anniversary of an Alice In Wonderland and to showcase how this chic City Centre hotel can also be ideal for a quirky themed wedding.
On visiting the hotel for the first time, Gemma thought how the reds and the blacks and overall chic look really lends itself to the elements within the story with the Queen of Hearts, the venue’s afternoon tea, actually of this name. Keen to compliment this with a vintage style bride, Little Star Events are showcasing how the elegant styling of the bride and the chic of the hotel would really marry up.
In contrast to this, Gemma was also keen to organise a Mad Hatter’s Tea party style bridal shoot for some time and thought how it would be perfect to contrast the two looks within the venue. Kerry is the perfect model for the more whimsical looking bride look with her fresh face and overall innocent look which I thought would show the two elements of the book perfectly.
Gemma and I have worked together before and I was delighted when Gemma asked me to be part of this styled shoot. Gemma loves the way my photographs have a real fairytale, happily ever after feel to them which would be perfect for this shoot. Gemma was confident that I would be able to capture the contrast of the brides perfectly.
Gemma’s attention to detail was amazing; she brought elements of the story throughout the shoot whether it be a subtle reference in terms of the pocket watch hanging from the bouquet or the full tea party set up itself. Flavoursome Fancies and Unique Cakes by Yevnig had exhibited at Little Star Events previous wedding shows, and knew their work would be amazing for the shoot.
Kate from Focal Point Designs is incredibly passionate about her work and was a must to be involved in the shoot. Her flowers creations are absolutely beautiful and she really understands a theme and works to create exactly what is required.
Little Star Events love to show brides that you can really have fun with a theme at your wedding and it can still look elegant, sophisticated and very romantic.
Styled in a whimsical way with loose hair, pastel flowers and a beautiful Princess style bridal gown provided by Surrey Brides. The hair and make-up by Caitlin Scott from Beauty Calls was perfect with soft tones and loose wavy hair, finished off perfectly with a headband of flowers from Focal Point Designs. A softer, more romantic look against a more chic, vintage looking bride.
Sian was perfect for this vintage look and Caitlin Scott from Beauty Calls created a fantastic vintage style hair style and perfect vintage make-up to which complimented the beautiful Benjamin Roberts gown provided by Surrey Brides finished off with the beautiful red rose bouquet from Focal Point Designs in a nod to the Queen of Hearts element of the story.
Two Hats Shot:
Everyone always thinks of the Mad Hatter when they think of Alice In Wonderland and I was very keen to use this quirky character as inspiration throughout the shoot. The shot of the two models in the hats shows how one theme can be interpreted in two very different ways.
Tea Party Shots:
The table full of sweet treats popping with colour and the raspberry and vanilla macarons worked a treat. Yevnig’s impressive gold three tiered cake, was a perfect addition and added the modern chic to the Mad Hatter Tea Party which complimented Sian’s vintage look and contrasted perfectly against the whimsical pastels.
The vintage china was provided by The Tea Party Co. and was essential in creating the elegant, yet fun tea party style wedding table. The beautiful china was a great mix of colours which tied in with the props perfectly. Kate from Focal Point Designs created perfect colourful posies which sat inside the teacups and the teapot creating the real quirky look that I was going for in the shoot.
The LOVE letters were provided by Beau Chic Events and were perfect for the brides to pose in creating a lovely light feel. I was keen to have our whimsical bride sitting in the O, inspired by falling down the rabbit hole in the story. The streak contrast of our vintage chic bride in the photo too, is a nod to the Queen of Hearts character within the story.
